Five things we left out

Every one of them removed a screen. They are what keep Echo from becoming a social network.

  • Public profiles

A person is a name and an avatar inside a chat. Nothing to visit.

  • Followers

You are in a chat or you are not. No asymmetry to manage.

  • A feed

Two destinations total: the list, and a conversation.

  • Popularity metrics

Reactions count, they never rank. Unread is the only other number.

  • Roles

Anyone renames the group, adds people, invites. No admin screen exists.

Link → installed → inside, in five taps

  1. 1

A friend sends you a link

By text, on WhatsApp, or out loud: the code is eight characters, readable even when the link fails.

  2. 2

    You install, you sign in

Apple, Google or a magic link by email. Nothing to remember, nothing to verify twice.

  3. 3

The code is already filled in

You see who is waiting before you join. One tap, and you're in.

What's inside

  • Messages, photos, voice

Text, photos from your library or camera, voice messages. Photos are the star: big, in their real ratio.

  • Replies and reactions

Reply by quoting, react with a long press. The cheapest possible reply is an emoji, always two gestures away.

  • Groups without a boss

Everyone has the same rights. Name, photo, members: anyone can change anything.

  • Notifications that respect you

Group name first, author inside the line — you know whether to care before unlocking. Muted chats never reach your lock screen.

  • Everywhere, at once

Phone, tablet, browser. Same account, same chats, light or dark, in English and French.

  • What's next

Remix a photo, turn it into a GIF, run a quiz on your own memories. The button will appear in the corner of every photo — the layout won't move.

Your data stays yours

We only ask for an email. No phone number, no access to your contacts, no ads, no reselling. Servers are in Paris; a photo is only visible to the members of the chat it was sent to.

Read the privacy policy

Your people, nobody else.

Echo is free, ad-free, with no scoreboard to win.
